Romantic Fine Art Maternity Session
Blush Pink Maternity Gown: Sew Trendy Accessories
This is one of my favorite maternity sessions! Kelley sent me a photo of this lovely blush pink maternity gown from Sew Trendy Accessories, and I just knew I needed to make this super romantic and beautiful. I photographed her wedding in May 2014 which also featured blush pinks. She brought her sweet little boy along for some photos too – isn’t he handsome? He just loves his mama!
She looks like a sleep princess here – swoon!
One of my favorite images of Kelley.
I played with some tulle here to give it that beautiful, romantic, hazy look.
Kelley – thank you so much for having me photograph your maternity session! I could not be more thrilled with how these turned out. You are a beautiful mama – inside and out, and I just adore your growing family! xoxo Jana

Earthy, Organic, Artful Maternity Session
You know when you get an idea in your head and you just need to do it? That’s what I did here, with my sweet friend, Shawna. She was such a fabulous model! So willing to go with my creative instincts and just play with fabric and flowers and have some fun in the process! It was a great learning experience for myself (really – wrapping tulle around a pregnant woman is harder than it seems!)
I made both head pieces the morning of our shoot. Easy peasy. The flowers I purchased at Joann’s in a clearance bin – they were $.50 – 1.00 each. I just used some floral tape and a clip to put them together (I didn’t even have time for hot glue!) The floral halo further below was basically made from one berry stem, also purchased at Joann’s – I just intertwined each end together and wrapped some floral tape around to help conceal the unfinished ends. I knew that part wouldn’t really show anyways in the photos. I love how romantic and dreamy they turned out, especially with the soft beautiful curls in Shawna’s hair.
This session took place in her home. We literally moved a loveseat, a television and some wall art to be able to use this particular wall – the window light was perfect here!
Window light to her right. Her wall was actually a dark brown, but the way I exposed it, turned into this really pretty taupe color. I love it! I’d say it was a successful day of practice.
